In-House Sound Engineer

Position Overview

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate digital/analog mixing systems.
• Build signal flow, patch microphones and playback sources, ring out systems and manage gain structure.
• Mix FOH, monitors, livestream or recording feeds as assigned.
• Troubleshoot audio, RF and connectivity issues.
• Protect hearing, equipment and client deliverables through safe operating practices.
• Complete event notes and report damaged or missing equipment.

Before the Event / Assignment

• Review the work order, run of show, equipment list and technical requirements before call time.
• Confirm required equipment, accessories, cables, power, software and backups are present and operational.
• Coordinate signal flow, patching, staging and technical dependencies with the assigned production lead.
• Complete safety and equipment-condition checks before customer or talent arrival.

During the Event / Assignment

• Report by assigned call time and complete setup/testing before the customer-facing start time.
• Operate assigned systems within ADMFA technical and safety standards.
• Monitor quality, system health and cue changes throughout the assignment.
• Communicate technical risks and changes immediately to the production lead.
• Protect equipment, files and customer content from unauthorized access or use.

After the Event / Assignment

• Safely power down, strike, inspect and account for assigned equipment.
• Verify recordings, files or deliverables when the role creates media.
• Report damage, missing items, technical incidents and recommended maintenance.
• Return equipment to the correct inventory/storage workflow and complete assignment notes.

Customer & Team Expectations

• Communicate professionally, accurately and respectfully with customers, guests, vendors and coworkers.
• Protect customer personally identifiable information, payment information and private booking details.
• Do not promise pricing, scope, refunds or operational changes outside assigned authority.
• Escalate safety, service or reputational risks promptly.
• Represent ADMFA Audio consistently in appearance, communication and conduct appropriate to the assignment.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated live audio or recording experience.
• Ability to safely operate professional sound systems.
• Must follow ADMFA equipment authorization and checkout procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in audiovisual production, events, hospitality, customer service, operations, administration, education, technology, or a closely related environment.
• Experience working in a fast-moving service business with deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
• Relevant technical training, industry certifications, project coordination experience, or customer-facing experience depending on the role.

Core Skills

Education

Minimum: High school diploma/GED, relevant technical education, or equivalent demonstrated experience depending on the role.
Preferred: Relevant college coursework, trade/technical education or industry certifications preferred when applicable.

Experience

Minimum: Relevant hands-on, customer-service, technical, administrative or project experience appropriate to the position.
Preferred: Experience in live events, audiovisual services, venue operations, rentals, production, hospitality, or another deadline-driven service environment is valued.

Licenses & Certifications

• Role-specific safety, technical or professional certifications are preferred when applicable. Required credentials, if any, are identified before assignment authorization.

Equipment Proficiency

• Digital mixing consoles, microphones, wireless systems, speakers, audio interfaces

Software / Systems

• DAW and streaming audio tools as applicable

Physical & Work Environment

• Ability to remain on-site for event or production calls that may include extended standing and walking.
• Ability to bend, reach, cable and safely handle production equipment within individual and team-lift limits.
• Ability to work around changing light levels, amplified sound and active production environments while following safety controls.
